A 150-year anniversary in Warsaw

A corporate anniversary is a chance to make an organisation’s history tangible. This Warsaw celebration connected a heritage exhibition with formal recognition and live performance.

The milestone and the setting

In September 2019, a 350-guest celebration at Klub Space in Warsaw marked 150 years of Polish consumer cooperatives, counted from the opening of the first cooperative shop in Warsaw in 1869.

The event for Społem combined an anniversary programme with an exhibition of its heritage. City representatives attended, and state decorations formed part of the formal proceedings.

History translated into a visual programme

The staging used a picture-frame motif and a neon from the Neon Museum. Exhibition materials presented the organisation’s history, advertising and awards, giving guests something concrete to explore alongside the stage programme.

Personalised statuettes and a dedicated anniversary laser show extended the visual concept into the ceremony. An artwork by Andrzej Mleczko was used as a guest gift.

Formal recognition and live performance

Janusz Józefowicz hosted the evening, with Natasza Urbańska from Studio Buffo as the featured performer. The programme brought formal honours and entertainment into the same anniversary setting.

For the 350 guests, the exhibition and formal programme offered different ways to engage with the anniversary. The historical material gave context to the people and achievements recognised during the evening.

A reference for an anniversary brief

Start with the milestone your organisation wants to recognise. Decide which people, achievements and historical materials belong in the programme, and which moments require formal protocol.

An exhibition can give a long history a physical presence without placing every detail into a speech. A production brief should explain how that exhibition, the awards and the live programme will relate to one another.
